Is 2021 the year you make a resolution to do something with your retirement plan? Maybe that means sitting down with your advisor to go over your financial goals or maybe it means finding the right advisor for you. Is your advisor doing these things to help guide you in the right direction?

When it comes to planning, are they including tax strategy? Is your advisor looking at your tax returns? How will you know if you have any money falling through the cracks? Taxes is about more than just preparing your taxes each year with an accountant. Make sure you have a strategy about taxes over the long-term.

Do you know what fees you’re paying? We all pay fees, but are you getting value out of your fees? Is your plan as efficient as it can be? Do they align with your goals?

When you think about your money, ask, “What’s the purpose of each account?” Assign tasks to each bucket of money and what it does for you. Have you talked about legacy planning? What about long-term goals or healthcare expenses? Getting a customized plan will allow you to make sure your money is working toward your goals, beliefs, values, and desires.
